What precautions should be taken when storing industrial sponges?

Sealed Storage: Unused anti-rust sponges, or those remaining after opening, should be kept sealed in their original packaging-or placed in a sealed bag or container-to prevent the premature volatilization of VCI components.

Dry Environment: The storage facility should be dry and well-ventilated; a relative humidity of less than 60% is recommended to prevent the sponges from absorbing moisture to the point of saturation and becoming ineffective.

Temperature Control: Avoid high temperatures (e.g., >35°C) to prevent accelerated VCI volatilization; the ideal storage temperature range is 5°C to 30°C.

Keep Away from Chemicals: Do not store alongside corrosive substances-such as acids, alkalis, or solvents-as this may damage the sponge's structure or neutralize the corrosion inhibitors.

First-In, First-Out (FIFO) Principle: Use the product on a batch-by-batch basis, prioritizing the use of items nearing their expiration date (typically 1 to 3 years).

Periodic Inspection: Inspect the condition of the sponges every six months; if they appear dry, brittle, or show significant shrinkage in volume, they should be replaced immediately.
