Introduction to Cleaning Sponges
Mar 07, 2026| Cleaning sponges-also known as super-strength stain-removing foam, magic sponges, or nano-sponges-are high-density physical cleaning tools manufactured from melamine resin. Relying on their internal nanoscale capillary structure to adsorb stains, they can remove stubborn dirt without the need for chemical detergents and are suitable for use on smooth surfaces such as ceramics and glass.
However, the use of these cleaning sponges carries risks, including excessive formaldehyde levels and the release of microplastics. my country's mandatory national standards explicitly stipulate that melamine sponges must not be used to clean food, tableware, or the oral cavity. Instead, they are intended for non-food-contact applications, such as cleaning faucets, tiled walls, and appliance exteriors.
When sufficiently moistened, these cleaning sponges function much like an eraser, effectively removing dirt and grime.
In accordance with mandatory national standards, cleaning sponges are prohibited from being used to clean food, tableware, or the oral cavity; they are designed specifically for non-food-contact applications, such as cleaning countertops, walls, and shoe soles.
