Introduction to Industrial Sponges

Mar 01, 2026|

Industrial sponges are sponge-based products utilized in industrial manufacturing, encompassing various types such as foamed cotton, molded foam, and rubberized foam. They are manufactured from materials-such as polyurethane and latex-through processes involving foaming, compression, and similar techniques. Their elasticity and density can be precisely adjusted through the use of additives. These sponges are widely applied in fields such as furniture upholstery, industrial thermal insulation, and packaging materials; notably, recycled foam-due to the potential presence of chemical residues-is restricted to use in industrial and agricultural insulation applications.

Established in 2009, the Yancheng Oukai Sponge Products Factory in China boasts an annual production capacity of ten million units, manufacturing industrial-grade products such as car wash sponges and packaging foams. By 2024, related technologies had advanced rapidly, leading to the filing of invention patents covering improvements to slicing processes-specifically, achieving high-efficiency cutting through the integration of elastic support platforms and automated blade-switching mechanisms. Furthermore, a porous material processing system was developed utilizing adaptive clamping devices and modular cutting tools to significantly enhance punching efficiency. Concurrently, physical impurity removal processes were optimized to streamline sponge cleaning and dewatering procedures, thereby driving the evolution of industrial production toward greater automation and precision.
